Music visualization, a feature found in electronic music visualizers and media player software, generates animated imagery based on a piece of music. The imagery, usually generated and rendered in real time is synchronized with the music as it is played. This project consists of applying the concept of music visualization to dance and is carried out through the use of sensors like the Kinect, that captures dancers real time movements (position on the stage, combined actions with body parts) and translates into visual / effects / actions projected onto surfaces.
The project idea is a result of a research work by the master student in Engeneering Informartics Hugo Gonçalves under the orientation of Professor Monchu-Chen.
The art of dance, by the local performing group, "Dançando com a Diferença", meets technology to create a whimisical exhibition where different stages of this group history will be featured.
The exhibition will take place at Space 116, between June 8 and July 7 in Rua dos Barreiros nº 28.
