Professor José Luís Silva recently received the award for the Best Iberian PhD Thesis in Systems and Information Technologies. His PhD thesis, entitled “Rapid prototyping of ubiquitous computing environments”, focuses on the subject of usability challenges that emerge in the process of systems design and development. To tackle the problem, Professor Silva suggests the use of prototypes that can help predict and prevent system failures. He presents a new framework Apex that brings together an existing 3D Application Server with a modelling tool.
