Open call for PhD scholarships and Post-Doctoral Fellowships - Q&A Session

Q&AWe are pleased to announce that FCT (Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology) and ARDITI (Regional Agency for the Development of Research, Technology and Innovation) have open calls for post-doc fellowships and PhD studentships.

M-ITI will be hosting a Q&A session about the Doctoral Programs and scholarship applications Tuesday 28th April at 5pm in the Classroom.

 

We kindly recommend reading the documents and preparing questions ahead so that the sessions can be more functional and helpful.

 

FCT scholarships:

Types of scholarships available:

 - Post-doc fellowship (BPD) to work in Portuguese scientific institutions; open to PhD holders

 - PhD studentship (BD) available for PhD candidates, either in Portuguese universities or abroad; open Masters degree holders or pre-Bologna Bachelor degree holders

 - PhD studentship in industry (BDE) available for PhD candidates doing research in industry settings; open to Masters degree holders or pre-Bologna Bachelor degree holders

Applications deadline: May 11th, 2015, at 5pm (Lisbon time)

Types of scholarships available:

 - PhD positions within doctoral programs (BI) available for PhD candidates doing research in scientific and technological institutions in Portugal; open to Masters degree holders or pre-Bologna Bachelor degree holders

About the programs:

M-ITI offers high-quality multidisciplinary doctoral programs in collaboration with University of Madeira, University of Lisbon, University of Porto, New University of Lisbon, University of Texas in Austin and Carnegie Mellon University.

 

PhD in Digital Media

This program was created through the partnership between the FCT/UNL (Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia da Universidade Nova de Lisboa), the FEUP (Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto) and

UT Austin (University of Texas in Austin, United States).

It is a 4-year PhD program, which is aimed at students with a Masters degree (2nd cycle Bologna or pre-Bologna) in the areas of information / communication sciences, multimedia, interactive design and all scientific and technological digital media areas. Digital media is an area that is rapidly growing and has gained increasing importance in our daily lives.

The Digital Media PhD program aims to train researchers, academics and leaders in innovative processes. This training will enable the conceptualization and development of digital products and services, having taken into account target audiences, contexts, and goals relevant to several distribution channels.

 

PhD in Networked Interactive Cyber Physical Systems 

This is a 4-year PhD program, where students have one year dedicated to curricular courses and three years dedicated to research. It is aimed at students with a Masters degree (2nd cycle Bologna or pre-Bologna) in engineering (electronic, computers, mechanical, aerospace and IT), computer science and applied mathematics and it offers a high level of expertise and skills in cyber-physical interactive systems. This PhD will provide students with the conceptual, scientific and technological tools to deal with the most challenging problems that happen in some of the most relevant real-life situations in the world.

This PhD in networked interactive cyber-physical systems aims to train researchers, professors and professionals to deal with innovative processes and situations. It also aims to enable them to analyze complex situations and to propose new solutions, as well as giving them the ability to manage multidisciplinary teams.
